Total Price $11,065

I will put the 6 monitors in a 4 x 2 configuration with two up and 2 down right in front of me and the other 2 out to the side twisted into portrait mode.

This machine will absolutely rock. Its not much different from the one I have now except for the 3rd video card and 2 additional screens, the power supply is 200 watts bigger (to cope with extra video card) and the 4 GB more RAM. Yes read it and weep – 8GB RAM. This is the max this board can take, but it will allow me to run multiple virtual machines. I find now that I often have 1 or 2 virtual machines running constantly as well as remote sessions into at least one server and sometimes into clients as well. I’m normally using more than 3GB physical RAM in day to day use of my machine. Vista 64 of course. Don’t even try and tell me a MAC could match this!

Now to try and talk the shop into a lower price.

I will probably get this nearer to the end of the year than now. For now I am just planning and researching.

Any comments and suggestions would be welcome.

Ask and you shall receive, a

Ask and you shall receive, a Mac that matches and beats the above:

Two 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (8-core)
32GB (8 x 4GB) RAM
1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
4 x ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB
8 x Whatever monitors take your fancy, personally I like this:
Apple Cinema HD Display (30" flat panel)
Some nice Samsungs like the ones you mentioned would also be good.
One 16x SuperDrive
Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
Logitech MX Revolution Cordless Laser Mouse
Logitech G25 Racing Wheel
Powerware 5110/1000VA Line Interactive UPS

Spend a little more and upgrade it to 4x of the video cards you mentioned, or any others that take your fancy.

Voila :)

P.S. Mollom (I presume), I am not spamming!

hehe - ill forward this to my

hehe - ill forward this to my other "mac" mate
of course the skulltrail mb and 2 extreme quad cores is the intel pc option and vista x64 can handle that also.
however the price is WAY more that the one above!
still nice machine - but what could a mac do with it all? - play 16 movies at once while creating a poster for your bridal shower and a scrapbook of your dogs new bowl all at once?
grin

What could a Mac do with it

What could a Mac do with it all? Virtually anything. You have 32gb of ram available to play with and a massive amount of screen real estate, talk about smooth high res graphics work, tonnes of room for coding, gaming if thats your inclination. All the virtual machines you can poke a stick at. The only limit really is whether or not a games manufacturer bothered to take the time to make their game Mac compatible, seriously, every Blizzard game since dot has been Mac compatible, why can't the others do it? Atari have made Linux/Mac versions of some of their games including every Unreal game except for UT3, the Mac and Linux versions of UT3 are due out end of this year/start of next year. The Civilization series has done Mac versions. The Call of Duty series all have Mac versions except for 3, but 4 is the latest so that is hardly an issue. Black and White, Age of Empires series, Battlefield 1942, Heroes of Might and Magic 4, Prince of Persion, all of the SimCity games and the Sims, actually pretty much every game by Maxis, all of the Quake series, theres stacks of games on Mac. Not to mention Microsoft Exchange support through Mac Mail (seeing as how Microsoft's Entourage isn't much good) and complete Exchange integration in Snow Leopard. Then there are developer tools and other tools that simply are not available on Windows such as Quartz Composer, Impromptu, and Final Cut Studio. And lets not forget that OS X is a more stable OS to start off with. Automated backups, Spaces, better Java and JavaScript performance/support, the list just keeps on going. :)

And of course, if you are that way inclined, a Mac could run Vista 64 on it natively instead of OS X, but why you would want to do that I have no idea.
