I thought I would see what all the fuss about Apples New OS X Leopard system is. Not much really.

I watched the guided tour and I was quite impressed by the shiny monitor, minimalist keyboard and mouse and the bloke doing the presentation. None of the features were original or new (from a PC perspective) with possibly the only exception being the ability to change video backgrounds in your chat window (though only with some one else who has Leopard as well.)

The main feature of a MAC appears to be eye candy followed up with computing for dummies. Now I realise there are power MAC users out there, and this isn't directed at you. However most of the way this presentation was targeted at the viewer it was about making things very simple. That is probably a good thing, and to be honest given the dangers inexperienced users can get themselves into security wise with a PC there is definitely a market for Macs. But generally speaking I suspect most PC users who watched this would see all the applications they already know and use in a PC being repeated in the mac features. Time Machine is volume shadow copy, Finder is Desktop Search, Mail is Outlook and the notes feature like a very basic version of One Note and so on.

I shan't be buying a mac soon, even though you can install parallels on it and run Vista and MAC simultaneously and even share files between them!

Yeah, see I get this. I was

Yeah, see I get this. I was always a fairly serious PC user. I never had trouble getting things done there. But I have always had trouble with Windows dragging down and getting slow. And without even adding new applications. I don't even use the internet that much except for blogging and news, and yet spyware and adware would plague me.

I'm trying the Mac for a few reasons

1. Okay, me like sexy.
2. I think the operating system is cleaner - meaning less likely to get junked up with stuff. I may be wrong in this. We'll see.
3. I like the little conveniences - stuff that is included and just works. Like the web cam. Small thing but it's cool that things just work.

Interestingly my hard core

Interestingly my hard core PC user brother in law is switching to a Mac - same sorts of reasons.

I'm not convinced yet, but... maybe for the folks...
